Blasting Off to Success: SOLIDitech’s Stellar Experience at UCT’s IT Showcase 2023

On the 27th of October, 2023, UCT’s Sarah Baartman Hall buzzed with excitement for 2023’s UCT School of IT Showcase event. As SOLIDitech, a South African Software Engineering company with a keen eye for talent, we were proud to host a space that not only shed light on the brilliant minds of tomorrow but also answered the burning question on every attendee’s mind: “What next?”

It was an evening where innovation took center stage, displaying the impressive work of final year, honour students, masters, and PhD candidates. For us, it was more than just an exhibition; it was a chance to connect with up-and-coming talent and discuss what the future holds after their academic journey ends.

We know how crucial these final projects are. They’re the closest experience these students get to the real world, where a concept must turn into a working product, ready to be demonstrated and scrutinised. That’s why we were there – to see these projects in action, provide feedback, and maybe spot some future SOLIDitech team members.

Plus, we had a bit of fun with our ‘Fill Syd’s Rocket’ lucky draw competition. A big shout-out to Sanveer Sookdawe for winning – he nailed our questions and got to take home the big prize – a R2,000 Takealot voucher.

The UCT IT Showcase is an event we look forward to every year. It’s a great mix of networking, talent-spotting, and getting a first-hand look at the innovative solutions tomorrow’s tech leaders are creating.
