With our laptops open and wearing our favourite SOLIDitech Branded Tops (with coffees in hand)…
It’s events such as the UCT Developer Socienty’s ‘#BreakTheRules’ that really highlight the flexibility of University societies, students, and employers alike. Each virtual event hosted and attended is an iteration in learning and this event was a very impressive example of this. After all, digital transformation is all about being a ‘learn it all’ rather than a ‘know it all’.
2021’s first #BreakTheRules event was truly outstanding: with epic student attendance and an easy-to-use and engaging virtual environment strategy that allowed participants and companies to interact, in spite of the virtual setting.
SOLIDitech is very proud to be regular supporters of this event – one which brings society members and companies to chat about future employment opportunities and the world of software development.
For this running of the event, our very own COO, Charles Musto, spoke to the students about the importance of Software Engineering and how we engineer our magical software solutions at SOLIDitech. Our team also spent some time answering one-on-one questions with the students, giving them insight into what it’s like working in the Software Engineering world.
A Quizzical Competition - highlighting student knowledge
For this event we created a quiz competition for students to show us their range of knowledge and ability to information-seek. They answered questions about SOLIDitech, Programming and General ‘Techie’ Knowledge.
With a bumper number of responses and a very high score rate, we’re very happy to announce our 4 winners who received Takealot prize vouchers.
- 1st Place: Dillon Lewis
- 2nd Place: Tadiwa Madzore
- 3rd Place: Kunta-Kinte Ngcobo
- 4th Place: Kialan Pillay
A big thank you goes out to UCT’s DevSoc for inviting us to take part in another great event. We really look forward to the next event and wish all the students the best for the rest of the year.
