Cape Town – Clay Cafe
On Friday 28th July 2017, our Cape Town office brought out their paintbrushes for SOLIDitech’s quarterly team building event. Everyone carpooled from the office in Kenilworth to Clay Cafe in Hout Bay, where each person let their creative juices flow.
Clay Cafe had set out a large table for us and had hot coffee and a delicious selection of cakes waiting. With the sun out, set against the beautiful Hout Bay mountain scape, it was impossible to not relax and enjoy the warm afternoon.
After a short demonstration, each person picked a clay item, chose some paint points and the necessary tools and got stuck in. From simple mugs to intricate mini Yoda’s and Olaf’s (and even an angry Hello Kitty), everyone got to create their own masterpiece.
While Clay Cafe provided some delicious cakes for people to snack on, it was tricky to focus on anything other than what each person was painting. It was great to see everyone take such pride in their artwork.
Johannesburg- Xtreme Indoor Karting
On Friday 21st July 2017, SOLIDitech’s Joburg office put on their racing goggles for a quarterly team building go karting event at the Xtreme Indoor Karting racetrack. After a safety briefing and a quick “rules of the track”, our team was ready to go.
SOLID had exclusive use of the track for an entire hour of pure adrenaline. The hour comprised of a ten lap qualifier, 2 x 15 heat races and a 10 minute final. While some people took the races very seriously, others just had a blast zipping around the track – albeit at a less break-neck speed.
As if he was born to race, one of SOLID’s lead Software Engineers – Kimesh Dajee – reigned supreme and took home the win and the glory. To celebrate everyone had pregos at the track.
See below for Kimesh’s lap that stole the trophy!
