Our Team is a joyful and energetic bunch, so when we suggested we do this challenge for the third year in a row, the response was a resounding “YES PLEASE!”
Everyone loves a little friendly competition, especially when we’re all working remotely. So, we issued a staff-wide #WinterWarmer challenge, and encouraged our staff to get out and about during the colder winter months.
We’re proud to say that the team dusted off their running shoes for the month of July and got moving. Staff could choose from three activities – running, walking or cycling. The challenge catered to all levels of fitness, tracking everyone’s progress using the Strava app.
The challenge saw participating team members running, cycling or walking to meet weekly goals. We had some hardcore runners and cyclists completely exceeding expectations and a quite a few walkers using the opportunity to get out with their families or simply to run errands.
The challenge was very well-received by our rather competitive team members, who were not only trying to meet their own personal goals, but also our weekly goals in order to be entered into a lucky prize draw.
The prize draw was a random, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ style draw hosted live via Zoom and saw three lucky three participants winning Takealot vouchers for their efforts.
Well done to the following team members for winning, we’re sure they’re enjoying the spoils of their victories.
- 1st Place: Yaseen Foflonker
- 2nd Place: Nadine Wong Ho
- 3rd Place: Renier van Schalkwyk
Well done to the rest of the team for taking part, it was such a great way to get everyone engaged, active and healthier during this time of working remotely. As a collective, we managed to run, walk and cycle over 9,000kms during the month of July, a great feat indeed.
